I didn't face this problem with the AC68U , but as i was configuring my friend's router and installing Merlin FW I couldn't get to show the Device Temp

it only gave me the temps of 2/5G WiFi

Here is a picture of it

device is manufactured in 2014 & came with a Bootloader (CFE) V. 1.0.1.6

I think Merlin moved it out because people kept complaining about the CPU temps being so high. He mentioned he was contemplating removing this info in an older post.

If he moved it why is it still there for me? Did you see my screenshot?

I also see the temps still under "Tools" with my AC68U.
Maybe things are different for the AC68R , which nthe OP refered to?
On the other hand, AFAIR the model name is just a separate marketing channel.for the same technical component.

i have AC68U it's running 39 build too and the temps are under tools .

by the way AC68R sucks , feels totally different than AC68U in terms of WiFi stability

AC68R and AC68U have the same hardware and are identical except for the model number. Perhaps the AC68R you had/have was/is faulty from the manufacturer.

Myself, and others on this board, who own the AC68R are not plagued with anything different than those who are using the AC68U.

Could be the router not being properly identified by the webui. Whats written on the Sysinfo page under "Model"?

Unfortunately my friend returned the router because the 5Ghz band turned off on it's own and the 2Ghz band became unresponsive overnight . I had to reset the router twice and tried asus build but in vain .

I managed to extract the logs , is it going to help identifying the issue ?!

No, I would have needed to see the nvram content.

Yeah he got it from bestbuy . What made me say so I own AC68U and didn't face these issues

My unit never showed the CPU temp under Tools > Sysinfo. I could only see it under Administration > Performance Tuning.

Sysinfo says RT-AC68R for Model.

Should this info be available here with the newer firmware (40_beta2?).

No, but I did try to do a blind change after the beta 2 release hoping it could help.

Please post the output from this command:

Code:
nvram get productid

I'm hoping that this variable will have the original product id.

Return:
Code:
RT-AC68U

Excellent. So I can base the model check on this var instead of the one I was previously using.
