AC87U Bridge Mode to BT Smart Hub

Peter Shankland

New Around Here
Hi, I have my AC87U set-up in bridge mode to connect to my BT Smart Hub via 802.11ac.

The AC87U seems to connect fine but any device that I plug into it doesn't pick up a DHCP address from either the BT Smart Hub or AC87U. If I set the IP manually pointing both the default gateway and DNS to the BT Smart Hub all is well. This isn't ideal as some of the devices I intend to plug into the AC87U can't have fixed IPs.

I have looked around the interface of the AC87U but can't find anything for DHCP or DHCP relaying. Is there anything?

Thanks.
Pete.

There is a bug in the Quantenna Firmware. Reapetermode is not working. With Merlin 380.58 it works.

Am currently running 380.64 so tried to downgrade to 350.58 but get an dialog about regulations and appears as though it can't be completed.

Any idea how to get around this?

Thanks.

Thanks. Completed the downgrade to 380.58 and reset the AC87U to factory settings. Set it up again in bridge mode but getting the same issue - the AC87U connects fine as long as I set the IP details to point both DGW and DNS to the BT Smart Hub. I have to do the same on the clients connected to the physical ports on the AC87U as DHCP just does not work.

I am sure this is an issue with the AC87U as read a lot of reviews of it working but only between two Asus devices. Just wondering if I am missing something or is anything has this working when bridging to non-Asus.

Thanks.

Set it up again in bridge mode

I think the AC87 does not have a bridge mode.
Unless you want to use the BT Smart HUB in Bridge Mode and the AP is the AC87
