Access network from modem??

So I have my PC wired into my modem, My Netgear r7000 is also wired to the modem (Technicolor TC4400) I just started messing with FreeNAS but I have to connect to my router to access my Plex server and such because the modems second port is a separate IP from the router this was done because I get a faster speed when I connect straight modem. The ultimate goal is to find a way to access the routers LAN while still being connected to the modem. Is this possible?
