New Around Here
I've been trying to create the following configuration off and on for a while now. Googling seems to imply it will work, but I am now doubtful.
Here's the equipment involved:

2Wire DSL Modem/Router - configured as just a DSL modem
ASUS RT-N56U Router - Connected to the 2Wire modem
ASUS WL-520GU Router - Flashed with latest DD-WRT;configured for VPN

The RT-N56U gets it's input connection from the 2Wire DSL modem which is just configured as a modem. Besides a couple of computers, I have also plugged the WL-520G into one of the RT-N56U router ports.

Here's what I would like to able to do:
Create a second wireless network using the WL-520G. The idea being that a wireless connected client would be using VPN (Hide My butt in my case). There are instructions on their Web site, but I must be doing something wrong)

Is what I'm trying to do possible? I've checked and double checked VPN settings in the WL-520G as well I have enabled PPTP passthrough on the RT-N56U.

Can anyone advise?

You're gonna be taking stabs in the dark until you can pin down what the problem is. I recommend setting the WL-520GU as your primary router, get VPN working on that, then work your way back to your current configuration from there.

But they're force to use that 2Wired Modem/Router as the primary. Unless you go out and buy your own Modem/Router that supports VPN would be the only way around this. DSL setup.

The OP mentioned that the router part of the combo modem/router was bypassed, so the VPN support of the modem/router is irrelevant.
