Is it bad practice to add an Access Point to a Media Bridge to extend wireless coverage? Would this work technically?

My current setup is one main Router (AC68U) wirelessly connected to one Media Bridge(AC66U). I am thinking of adding an older spare AP (N66U) to the Media Bridge LAN port (to extend wireless coverage on that side of the house).

A friend suggested I replace Media Bridge with a NetGear EX8000 (a tri-band extender/repeater device with dedicated backhaul band). However, I would like to save money where possible of course.

Looking for advice. Thanks in advance.

I think it should work. Also, I remember seeing someone on here using one band for MB and one band for AP.

it should work. You can also just setup ac66u to be repeater.

you can play around with it to find the best setting that works for you

Why not just setup the remote device as a repeater in the first place? That will give you media bridge access and allow you to use the radios on that device to broadcast a different ssid on a different channel to extend your wireless out. Change the ac66 to a repeater instead of media bridge and setup different ssid's for both 5ghz and 2.4ghz from your main router.
