Advantage of Tri-Band Routers as Wireless Bridges

Hi!

My AC66 doesn't cover my apartment well enough even on 2.4 band. I consider buying another ASUS router to use AC66 as wireless extender. As far as I know, this must at least half of the available bandwidth. I wonder if buying a tri-band router could reduce the impact on perfomance of the main router by, say, using low channels for bridging and high channels for connecting end devices? Does it make sense?

IMHO, as long as all wireless interfaces are bridged together with the ETH-Switch instead of being on different rooted networks, all packets will travel through all (bridged) interfaces.
