Hi, i need some advice concerning the Asus RT-AC68U Dual-band Wireless-AC1900 with regards to installing the Merlin firmware..

firstly i havent purchased the unit.. im considering upgrading my outdated dir-655 with the thought of using it for streaming VR games using Tridef and moonlight with ED Tracker(wifi) as my headtracking unit, hoping to get less latency with the dual band N, or AC in response to VR via wifi being completely tetherless on a LG G3 mobile phone

im considering buying AC68U 2nd hand from trademe NZ
becos of its throughput and extra added features(USB storage,Printer etc)

these were the questions posed by another buyer considering the purchase as well...

Q. Hi there, what is the H/W Version? It should say on a sticker on the back, and on the box.

A. It is 3.0.0.4.378 but I have upgraded to 3.0.0.4.380.4164 4:15 pm, Mon 16 Jan

Q. Thanks for your response, I mean hardware version, not firmware. Should be something like A2, B1, etc.

im wondering? will the Merlin FW work with the current FW and hardware version??

Thanks in advance
(Reposted in correct thread apologies to admins)

excellent! thank you very much for the quick response, much appreciated
one final question, above FW was upgraded to 3.0.0.4.380.4164 will this pose a problem for the Merlin FW to be flashed?

thanks once again

Not really, if you are not planning to use Merlin FW that is older than 380.59, then that would not be a problem. So if you are planning to install latest Merlin FW(380.64_2 or 380.65-Beta1), you are completely fine.

Edit: Make sure the router's price is low enough to be second hand product(Cheaper than new one).
