I used to use AiCloud phone app to wake up sleep PC. It worked well with my old RT-N16 and the very beginning of AC-88U with Merlin.

Since few months ago till now, when opened AiCloud on the phone, it only shows the USB attached and nothing else. I have to use web access to to the job which is not easy as AiCloud.

At the first stage with Merlin, AiCloud also lost device in the list sometime. But it could be pick them up by doing dis/enable SmartAccess in router. Now this trick does not work either.

Now, the router is on the latest 384.11.2 and still not working for this function.

Is it a bug or there is extra setting needs to be done?

Thanks for all the help would come.

Welcome to the forum.

“I have to use web access to to the job which is not easy as AiCloud. ”

Opening the router to WAN access has been implicated in routers being hacked. In fact, many here, if their router had been accessible, would automatically assume the router had been hacked and would fully reset it to factory default settings and then manually enter their custom settings.

VPN access eg using OpenVPN Server is generally the only recommended method for remote access. And there are concerns, by some as to the security of AICloud.

SSH, OpenVPN and IPSec (on supported models) are the only remote access methods I would trust enough to use. No idea howsecure AiCloud is since it'sproprietary closed source code, “

I’m sorry this isn’t the answer you are looking for. I have no experience of AICloud and for the above reasons would never use it.

Thank you for the info. I have the VPN setup now. But the VPN makes the Asus DDNS does not working anymore. How could I find the router IP to access and wake up my PC in LAN?

Thanks.

The router IP? Is it a static IP, in which case why use DDNS? Router IP address is on the page that opens after you log in - the Network Map page.

Asus DDNS is excellent. Did you use that DDNS address on a different router? That’s the only reason I can think of why it wouldn’t work (unless you are double Nat’d). If you have used it on another router, you have to release it first from that router.

Do you get an error message on the DDNS page?

I guess it is my misunderstanding that to setup the VPN client. It makes router is appeared as other IP which DDNS has the real IP from ISP.

Now I enabled the VPN server. However, I didn't see any difference when I try to remote access from web. For sure, the AiCloud still does not work to list devices connected but only Asus-Ext.

My intention was that you might consider OpenVPN Server instead of AICloud as the means of router access, given uncertainty over the security of AICloud. By the way, did you turn off OpenVPN Client? There can be problems with client and server running together.
