AiP two-way-ips vs kernel firewall

Apologies if that is covered elsewhere but a forum search (two way ips) came up short somehow.

How the 2 firewalls, AiProtection 2wips and kernel firewall, play along?
Is AiP2wIPS acting before or after the kernel firewall, or both simultaneously?
Is AiP2wIPS also protecting the VPN interface or only the WAN interface?
