The new stick uses a version of Amazon's voice controlled Alexa service that powers its Echo and Dot products to search for music and video content from services like Netflix, Hulu, HBO NOW, YouTube, Amazon Video, etc. The Alexa Voice Remote service does not require an Echo or Dot; it's built right into the Fire TV Stick remote. The product page says the remote can also be used to order Domino's pizza and hints that Uber rides can also be summoned.
Powered by a MediaTek quad-core ARM processor, 1 GB of RAM, and a Mali450 MP4 GPU, the new Fire TV Stick also has AC1200 class dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 4.1, and 8 GB of storage capacity.
The Fire TV Stick works with HDMI equipped displays only and supports output resolutions of 720P and 1080P up to 60 fps for video, and Dolby Audio, 5.1 surround sound, 2 channel stereo and HDMI audio pass-through up to 7.1 for audio.
The Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote can be pre-ordered now from Amazon.
