Any ext4 hopes for RT-N16

New Around Here
From http://event.asus.com/2009/networks/disksupport/ I can see that some of the routers do have ext4 enabled.

Are there any hopes for RT-N16's upcomming firmwares? What about 4TB support?

Interesting to see that there are different kernel versions on different routers, would't be easier for them (asus) to maintain one for all?

Anyway - are you aware of any chances for ext4 and/or 4TB ?

Thanks Merlin for your firmwares!!!

4TB should already work with my firmware, provided your enclosure is supported (this is hit-or-miss depending on the USB enclosure used).

ext4 will most likely never be supported. The support was still experimental in that kernel, and backporting a filesystem is way too risky since your data integrity is at stake there.

The kernel isn't chosen by Asus, but by Broadcom as they provide manufacturers with the SDK based around a specific kernel. That's why every router manufacturers using a specific Broadcom chip will all use the same kernel version. All Northstar-based routers use 2.6.35 or 2.6.36.
