Any love for the GT-AC5300 ?

Hey guys,

I saw some mentions regarding this router a little while back and did a search and at that point in time and developent was not going to happen. I just wondered that now we have fast forwarded to the present if that is looking to change ?

Thanks !

Nope sorry not going to happen.

I suspected that would be the case, that is a real bummer considering the device specs but it is what it is.

Cheers.

just read his resposes on the matter one he said its a diffrent architectureand two too many uniqe features, granted that i to wish it was supported, plus he also said the firmware realses are not in sync with other units.

I think I we all donate some good money for him he may do it I know money isn't gonna pay for his hard work and efforts at least some money for his time he spend doing it. Thank

Not going to happen , money has nothing to do with it.

Most definitely down to time constraints I am sure, if it was an option to donate in order to get a working firmware I would. As I say, it is down to his time.

He would need a team extra programmers to get it supported and help with his existing work load.

A man can only but dream !

When I asked, others recommended I get the AC86U instead (to replace my aging N66U) - mainstream support from Merlin, fast recent CPU, plenty of RAM, in practical day-to-day use about matches the 5300 etc, but about 2/3rds the price (here in the UK).

I'm just waiting for the next special offer (cos I'm cheap - watching camelcamelcamel) for a full UK spec model - you can get cheaper ones shipped from China - and a spare weekend before I pull the trigger on the purchase.

The thing that bugs me about the gt-ac5300 is that it doesn't have multiple console support, Merlin firmware has a fix for it and in the 86u he added an option for full cone Nat support.
I wish Asus would add that option by default in to stock firmware an option to change between symmetric Nat and full cone it would be especially benifical to the rapture
