Anyone use BT's 4G Assure (USB dongle) directly connected to their Asus router?

Trying to make this work. Currently double-NAT'ing with my BT business hub just to retain the 4G Assure functionality. Specifically I'm using an AX88U, but should be same/similar for any Asus router that supports USB WAN connectivity.

Technically I see no reason why it shouldn't - it's just a rebranded Huawei USB modem dongle - just need the right settings (BT hub configs all blackbox).

General consensus across the internet is "no it doesn't work" yet I've managed to find one post that suggests two people have got it work: https://forums.thinkbroadband.com/bt/4666002-business-4g-assure-own-router-or-bridge.html (posts 3 and 6).
