New Around Here
I have read through everything I could in a short amount of time and it seems the QNAP TS219P would be a nice option for me. I do however think it might be a bit overkill for my needs. Can I please have recommendations?

Currently using a DLink DNS-323, but want to change the 323 to a backup only NAS, due to the slow speed.

My needs then are basically Media serving. I did use a Netgear Entertainer EVA8000 until the lightning damaged it and are currently using a WD HD TV Live until I can get the new EVA 9150 Elite

Is there a better / cheaper option for my needs?

There are lots of NASes using the Marvell Kirkwood.

Filter the NAS charts for two drives, then use the Price vs. Performance chart. Remember to factor in drive cost, since the chart doesn't for BYOD products.

Maybe the Synology DS209? Its similar in features and performance to the Qnap 219P but you'll save $75 on the diskless version. Note the QNAP has 512MB RAM, eSata and nice drive trays. Read through Tim's reviews. Stick with Qnap or Synology for 2 bay at this price point. You'll be happier.

Ds209

I don't have any experience with the QNAP, but I bought a DS209 a few months ago and I have been happy with it. I would buy it again. There is a Synology wiki that has a lot of step-by-step informaiton if needed.

It is a very easy setup and I have had no problems with it.
