Repeater with WNDR3700 configuration?

I have 3000sqft house (2 stories), and I would like to extend my wireless range on the first floor. My WNDR3700 is on the second floor.
My desktops on the first floor are working with Alfa 1000mW, and I get good wireless connectivity with OK download speed (1MB/S out of 3MB/S (that I get upstairs)).
The problem is my Samsung TV with its wireless (poor) dongle, and sometimes my iPad is dropping its signal when I"m on the first floor. I've tried every channel that is possible, and channel #6 with WPA2 was the best combination in terms of signal (I've updated to the last firmware [the beta is better than the regular release and DD-WRT made things just worse).
my budget is up to $100.
