Trying to help a friends daughter hookup to the router adter its been defaulted but she got a laptop with no Ethernet port.

What would the wireless password default to on these things whats the router been reset?

It is open. The default username and password is admin. Just got to the default address of the router (192.168.1.1) and go through the setup.

No Ethernet in her laptop so the only present way to connect to the router is through the wireless.

Except after a hard manual reset its anyone's guess what the wireless password is.

I know it defaults to something but for the life of me i can't remember what it is.

Not on reset the wireless is secured.

I am somewhat suprised people are confusing a wireless password for the router logon and password though lol.

Tom she going to get a usb Ethernet adapter so it wont be a issues for long.

As others pointed out, after a factory default reset there is no WPA key. Wireless defaults to open, you don't need any key to connect to it.

Some newer models might have an hardcoded WPA key, in which case it will be on a sticker underneath the router (it's usually a word followed by a number).
