Asus AC-66u attached HDD errors

Hey guys I have an Asus AC-66u running stock latest 3.0.0.4.374_5517 firmware with a 1TB Western Digital Black drive in a USB dock. The problem I've been having is both reading and writing - sometimes. For instance I downloaded an ISO from MSDN and put it up on my "NAS" - no prob. Then I went to DL it to another machine and it errored with some unknown error. Now I went to move files from one folder on the NAS to another and got:

Error 0x8007045D: the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error

In the system log on the router I see:

Apr 27 20:05:47 kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sda, sector 383905976

Anyone have any advice on this all?

Hi,
Looks like bad or weak spot on the drive. When was the last time you did full format on the drive?

I formatted it originally when putting it on the AC66u. Its a drag because it takes forever to transfer like 300GB over USB2.0 on this router. Only about 4 - 7MB/sec throughput.

Hi,
At first sign of symptom like that I put the drive on utility duty using for not so important files. How old is the drive? Hope you can recover it. Can try again connecting the drive to
PC directly.
