Hi im running the latest merlin firmware and managed to get a hold of asus usb3 AC wireless adapter. After fiddling with some settings i managed to get it to work at the advertised 867Mb/s and my phone to work at 433Mb/s however when doing a speed test between wire and wireless such as file transfers it wont go past wireless N speeds. On windows task manager it is stuck at 20% of the speed. There are no other 5 Ghz routers around and i did the test within a few feet from the router. I use the router in AP mode. On my samsung galaxy s4 i get less than 1MB/s when opening a file from LAN when the file is placed in ram i.e. pdf files in pdf reader.
I would also like to request the features from router mode not be disabled when switched to AP mode. Some USB applications and features are disabled such as AI cloud and i am unable to use as a router with my current ISP since they block devices that use NAT. I know this can be circumvented by using some custom form of packet processing but this is also impossible to do with merlin firmware although i have a mikrotik CCR to handle the punishing amount of processing needed for it.
When i use both bands of wireless my ac68u tends to hang everyday. The 2.4 Ghz band in my area is very crowded. I had a tp-link router before and it used to hang only once in a month with the amount of air and wired broadcast traffic. I also cant even overclock because it says that my bootloader is incompatible.
I'd be happy to help improve the firmware since i have some knowledge of CPU architecture and a lot of coding skills but i have my hands full at the moment.
