Hi,
it was already discussed here on couple of threads, OpenVPN server is not started properly after boot.
I have noticed that it starts correctly if I take out my secondary USB from USB 2.0 port - where I have installed Download master. Without it (not sure if problem is USB or Download Master) OpenVPN server starts correctly and I can connect. With USB attached, OpenVPN server is stuck on "Initialinzing the settings of OpenVPN server now, please wait a few minutes to let the server to setup completed before VPN clients establish the connection." - but it never finishes.

I did factory reset before testing this. Then installed ASUS firmware, tested, installed Merlin, tested.
Attaching detailed log file from boot (to google drive, since I am not able to upload file with site's window to upload files) of Merlin when OpenVPN does not start.

Also, OpenVPN server starts correctly with ASUS official firmware - with USB and Download Master. Problem with ASUS official firmware is that I cannot connect to Samba, therefore I am using Merlin, where it works.

If anybody cares about this issue, I'd be very thankful, or if you need more info from me, just let me know.

Running Merlin 384.6

Your start_firewall event is taking too long to complete, causing the start_vpnserver1 event to time out. Check what's taking so long with your firewall scripts.

Nothing I can do about it, Asus has moved the whole event notification code into closed source components, so I can no longer extend the wait time like I was doing in the past.

thanks for prompt answer.
So I am stuck at decision either to use Download Master or OpenVPN server, not both ? Is it worth testing it further if it is caused by USB itself or Download master application ?

Simplest workaround is to create a services-start script with the following:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
sleep 300
service restart_vpnserver1

This will cause the VPN server to (re)start 5 minutes after the router has started its boot process.
