Asus iPhone app

curious if anyone has this same issue...I own two AC86U routers are different locations. I setup the first one on my iPhone app (using instructions) and like the fact that I can turn internet off/on for a device from it quickly. The second router I setup and completed without tieing to the app. Anyone know how I can add a second unit to the app after it has been configured or can that only be done during the initial setup? Thanks!

Looks like I may be able to answer my own question....My thought was I could control both routers at different locations using the same app (just pick which one I wanted inside it), but it looks like it will only allow one at a time.

Would you not get a warmer, safer feeling if you ditched the Asus app and setup OpenVPN Server on each router and only accessed each GUI via the vpn?

Its alot easier to go into "family" and click pause internet for those devices/child than go into router gui on a small iphone screen. No need for VPN as I do it when I'm actually there.

I guess I know what you mean: I seem to do most of my stuff on my iPhoneSE. So how will you get round only being able to link one of the routers? Get another iPhone? ;)

Actually yea... ;) I have a second iphone I use for work. Not a big deal but would have liked to keep work with work and personal with personal.

Good man! When I saw Apple stopped selling the iPhoneSE, I waited till I saw one in a sale and sold my pristine iPod Touch on ebay, so I got a second iPhoneSE for minimal cost.

Nice, the iPhoneSE is actually a good phone. Apple treats it like the "red headed step child" (no offense to actual red headed step children) of iphones.

I just really like the ‘form factor’: it sits comfortably in a pocket, fits nicely in my hand and the screen isn’t too small. I believe it was a hit, too, with females, again because it is better suited to smaller hands than their larger, bulkier models. I think it’s a little short sighted of Apple.

I had another look at the Asus router app but I’m away from home for a whike so I can’t properly gauge it. But I gather from one review that it is possiblr to set it up for LAN access only, such that connection from the WAN isn’t possible . I presume (hope) that’s how you have yours set up then?

Yea I only use it locally to the router. My issue was that I would like to have the ability to switch between the two routers I have within the app itself instead of using a separate phone for each.

Nothing to lose by asking the App Support team to consider implementing support for 2 or more Asus routers in a future version. I see that plenty of forum members have more than one Asus router.

Now I’m off to update Diversion over OpenVPN on my iPhoneSE!

Just got done updating Diversion myself. Take care!

Found this old thread of mine in case someone else needs it as well....Was able to get both routers (different locations) on the same IOS app. When your on the same local network as the router go into the insight section on the Asus app and it will say it found a new device. From there you can sign in and set it up. Don't forget to rename them as well so you can tell the two (or more) apart from each other.
