Just got a USB 3.0 cable today & tried to connect it to my Synology DS214play NAS & Asus RT-AC56U router but somehow my router can't find the NAS (it says "No Device" on Network Map of router's web interface). There's nothing wrong with the USB 3.0 ports of both devices (plugged a USB thumb drive & both devices recognized it). Just got curious of my router's file sharing feature (AiDisk) that's why I tried connecting a USB 3.0 cable to it. I know I don't need this feature as my NAS can do better with its file sharing feature. Is this something normal of Synology NAS not recognized when connected to an Asus router? Does this have to do with the NAS drive file format?

Did you connect the AC56U and Synology NAS with a USB 3.0 Male-To-Male cable?

If so, it does not work that way, since both are USB host devices. You can only connect USB drives to either of them.
