ASUS RT-86U & ExpressVPN

New Around Here
Need some help! I recently upgraded to an ASUS RT-86U in order to run OpenVPN with ExpressVPN. Setup was very simple, downloaded several ovpn config files and uploaded using the ASUS router GUI. I activated the connection and everything was working great, speeds over 140 Mbps with an xfinity connection of 160. However whenever the router reboots I'm completely locked out. I can logon to the first screen of router gui (192.168.50.1) but no further as the internet status says disconnected. I can't get to the VPN tab to activate/deactivate connection. So not sure what is happening but booting router causes an issue when reconnecting that freezes me out. Not sure if its issue with the config files, the router itself or some combination. I have had to press the reset button and restore factory settings and then reenter everything to bring everything back. Any ideas?

Just a newbie here, any ideas why recycling my rt-ac86u causes the internet status on my router to go from connected to disconnected. This only happens when running with the VPN client. It appears that when the router reboots and tries to reactivate the VPN connection something gets hosed up and possibly activates the kill switch. I have to factory reset the router to get the connection back which is a pain.

think you should have posted this in firmware section AsusWRT or Merlin to get more answers (sorry I cant help you).
