Asus RT-AC68U locks itself from time to time.

So I was using my 68U as a wireless media bridge using Merlin 380.57 when I started. Worked perfectly aside from the fact that it would from time to time lock itself so that I had to turn it off and turn it back on from time to time, after a few days of use. No matter how much or how often it would be used. Thought I would try the 378.56_2. Same problem. So... I thought I would use it as a router instead using the same firmware. Same problem. I've set it so that it restarts itself every day during the night. Anyone have any ideas? Let me know if there is anything else you would like to know about my setup.

Update: I've had the 2.4Ghz turned off at both instances. It's now turned on. It couldn't hurt I suppose.

There's been two recent threads with folks experiencing weird router problems, including locking up. One turned out seemingly to be related to bad router location and the other apparently from interference caused by a usb cable plugged into the router. Just something to consider. I read theserecently and found it informative, maybe you will to. Or not, hah. Good luck!

OK, just good for thought. What about interference? Other wireless gear (comcast equipment can ruin hotspots known to interfere), microwaves, baby monitors, alarm systems, phones, keyboards, mice, headsets, Bluetooth devices, etc?

Don't forget about other computer cables.....one user had a problem with a cheap HDMI cable to a monitor located next to the router.

Never used anything other than Audioquest cables. Nowadays even ethernet. Even tried swapping them with cheap OEM's. No difference at the time.

Ok... so it's been up and running for 2 days straight now without any problems. All I've done so far is activate the 2.4Ghz band.

Final update: So the router has been running for several days now. I've been experimenting with OpenDNS, Dynamic DNS, OpenVPN server and a few other things. Everything seems to be working perfectly. It would seem to be odd that the only reason it didn't work earlier was because I had disabled the 2,4GHz radio. Oh well... I've found use for it as well.
