ASUS RT AC68U wont boot

Vlado

New Around Here
Hello,
yesterday i just tried to update the firmware on my router RT AC 68U, which was working in AP mode. However just after update, when i saw the page saying about reboot, the router became a brick... When i tried to reboot it, only thing that flashed once was USB 2.0 and then the power button is light on. I tried the firmware restoration utility using the latest firmware and recovery utility from ASUS website, but with no luck... Only thing i was able to get sometimes is the miniwebserver admin page :(

There is also no Wifi transmition and its accessible only via LAN.

Any ideas what to do now?

Thanks

Factory default reset, and double check that you did flash the RT-AC68U firmware and not a different model.

Tried to search but cant see how to factory default reset... found one thread http://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ac68u-cannot-restore-to-factory-default.17141/ but nothing... Also it seems like router is only accessible on 192.168.1.2 IP as this is the IP it was used when set as Access point mode...

the message i can now see on router is:
Settings have been updated. Web page will now refresh.
Changes have been made to the IP address or port number. You will now be disconnected from RT-AC68U.
To access the settings of RT-AC68U, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number.

And then nothing. Any heads up on how to proceed correctly the Factory default reset as i believe the router should then go to Router mode and should be accessible on 192.168.1.1, or am i wrong?

Thanks for your help RMerlin

EIDT: just observing the router and it seems that in some intervals the router's lan ports blink once... like the power led is on, nothing is connected to router and then suddenly all lan ports blink once and then again only power led is on... this is repeating

Thanks a lot for that page Colin. I actually did the WPS thing but only holding for 5 seconds... Now the router is brought to the life again. Thanks for help!
