New Around Here
Hi guys I'm new to this stuff and would appreciate any advice.

I wanted to add a USB drive to my router so I could wirelessly make time machine backups, windows backups and also store files for streaming.

I was thinking of getting the following drive enclosure

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009C5VSFU/?tag=smallncom-21

and install 2x2tb drives using raid 1 for extra protection.

I wanted to know if its possible using the above setup on this router......

Possible? Yes. But I don't think time machine would work.

Recommended? No; even a 2 Bay NAS (QNAP or Synology) is a much better solution.

Thanks for your response,

just seemed like the cheaper option, was thinking of creating 3 different partitions, HFS+ for the mac backups, and prob exfat or ntfs for the windows backups and files..not sure if this is possible though.

Say if I did decide to go down the NAS route, would it be better to buy one of the above brands you quoted or a HP microserver with Xpenology OS?
