I've been shopping for an Asus RT-AC86U as an upgrade. Prices are generally around $200, with a recent low of $179 (on Newegg). But there's someone on ebay named brandon0x0 selling them for $49. I looked carefully, it's said to be new, unopened, and he's already sold a few. Only obvious issue is that he doesn't have any real track record for sales on ebay. Anybody have an understanding what might be up here? He could triple the price and it would still be a good deal. Seems too good to be true, but curiosity killed the cat... I just ordered one. I'll post what I learn when it comes next week.

Be careful, don’t trust such accounts. Could have duped a few people hence the few sales, if it’s an old account with a large gap of inactivity, it could be hacked. Basically if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is an attempt to rip you off.

I saw it as well. But the old saying 'If it's too good to be true....' kept going through my mind. Just went to check on it and the listing is totally gone along with the account.

So as you might expect the listing was a fraud. I got a message from eBay later in the day that the seller had been hacked, no sale would be taking place, and the listing was taken down. Not clear to me whether the seller was innocent as the message implied, or what. Anyway, too good to be true.
