Asus RT-AC88u OpenVPN Client problem

Greetings,

I have RT-AC88u, with original Asus firmware 3.0.0.4.386_48260-gd4c241c

My conection is 1GB PPPoE, it works good, but when I activate OpenVPN client router notification appears saying "Router will restart and disable NAT hardware aceleration when i activate VPN on PPPoE conection", then the speed drops from 1gb to 300-400mbps.

Anyone know if is there anything i can do to fix that? Maybe Merlin firmware can works?

There's not much you can do about it on that router. It's underpowered for what you want to do.
