Flashed my RT-AX86U this morning. Everything seems to have come back online and working as expected. Just thought I would toss out the question if, a factory reset should be performed due to the nature of the update, or is it safe to keep running with the previous config. Which for me, was a clean setup with most of the defaults and the sharing and cloud features disabled, plus the usual wireless optimizations I make.
I was curious about that myself. Most of the time the firmware released for the 86U has also been for the 86S, and it's stated for the 86 Series. This thread is just the 86U,. So does this mean 86S owners are no longer supported? I don't have the S, so this was mainly just a question of curiosity having known the past history of releases for these routers.
Oh, it personally doesn't matter to me in terms of the S model, I was simply curious if Asus was just going to focus on one model now in that series. I didn't intend to cause confusion with the question, and I may have misinterpreted the above post too.
Corrected. Thanks.Did you mean to post a link to version 3.0.0.4.388_24243? This thread is about version 3.0.0.4.388_24323.

Asus couldn't have made the "new" version number more confusing! A dyslectic person would have gone nuts figuring out if the numbers were the same. When I first looked at the new firmware version number I could not see that 388_24323 was different from 388_24232... So I finished the first cuppa and things became clearer...maybe...Did you mean to post a link to version 3.0.0.4.388_24243? This thread is about version 3.0.0.4.388_24323.

So, apart from the security fixes for AICloud and other breaches being patched, has anyone found anything else changed in this update? It mentions several other things it addresses in addition to the malware. So far I haven't noticed anything, and it feels about the same as previous firmware.
Actually, the previous version was 388_24243. not 388_24323.Asus couldn't have made the "new" version number more confusing! Everything in the changelog listed above is security-related (pretty much verbatim from security-related releases for other devices earlier in November), most likely all behind the scenes. So, apart from the security fixes for AICloud and other breaches being patched, has anyone found anything else changed in this update? The main part I was asking about were the bug fixes. Just wondered if anyone had seen any other issues they were having resolved along with the security fixes.Everything in the changelog listed above is security-related (pretty much verbatim from security-related releases for other devices earlier in November), most likely all behind the scenes.
