Asus RT-AX86U openvpn Question

Hello,

I am planning to work within different city where my work location is in City A and i am working from City B. i have taken open vpn proxy server where i am getting almost 300 mbps speeds up and down. I am planning to configure the openvpn setup on my Asus RT-AX86U router.
My question is after i configure the openvpn will i be getting same 300 mbps up and down speed ( these speeds are provided by vpn provider where as my net speed is around 500 mbps up and down). i want to use this router soley for work purpose where i connect only my work laptop and my phone . will this setup works on this router ?

if due to any reason vpn server is down, will the router kill the session as i dont want internet from City B. will this setup work ?

i will be using one more work vpn the laptop. this setup should be fine ?

You can run the VPN on the client - the laptop in your case. No need to run it on the router.

it is work laptop. i cannot run any vpn apart from work vpn on the laptop

You can run VPN between City A and City B on the router, kill switch is available in Asuswrt-Merlin firmware, but your laptop will run VPN through VPN in this case and what the performance is going to be - you'll have to find out.

understood. thanks a lot. doesnt asus stock firmware has kill switch ? i should be installing merlin firmware to get the kill switch ?
