ASUS RT-N66U Port forwarding issue

Occasional Visitor
I have a ASUS RT66U router, which was running Merlin RT-N66U_378.56_2 for months with no issues. I had port forwarding setup and devices on my network were contactable from outside my LAN. ASUS since then have made a change to their firmware in such when you upgrade, you can no longer downgrade.
Since I have upgraded to the latest merlin firmware RT-N66U_380.61_0 Everything works apart from port forwarding. I have done a hard reset on the device and setup my ISP connection, wifi, port forwarding - same issue as before. I have a static IP address, so I know my IP hasn't changes causing a problem with my devices finding my router.
I've attached the message I get when I attempt to download the firmware.

I have tried everything I can think of. Nothing on my home network has changed as it was working prior to the firmware upgrade.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

I just upgraded our N66U on Friday which was running 380.58 and have no issues with port forwarding.

Thanks for your reply. Still can't get my head round it. Might do another factory reset.

Thanks john9527, Followed the advice given there and cleared out the nvram which in turn resets the device and puts it back to factory default settings. Set everything up manually and I've still got the same issue.

Thanks just giving that a go now. It was on Asus, changed to Merlin and I'm just rebooting it.

How are you testing it?

Dropping off WiFi to 4g on my phone. Trying to connect to my cameras and also trying ftp from another location. The ftps kind of works but it is not able to display the directory.

Thanks TeHashX. That's odd so it says success on the ports but it's like when a connection has been made it does authenticate or do the handshake. Wht I dont get is that everything worked prior to the update.

So I did an ftp test from ftp test.net
This is the result
Results
Error: Connection timed out
Timeouts are usually caused by some router and/or firewall that is interrupting the connection.
Try uninstalling all firewalls and plug your computer directly into your modem, thus bypassing the router.
