Hi, new here!
Can anyone tell me if this device is a good choice for my laptop. I connect at 5ghz from about 40 ft. through 3 walls. I am currently using an Alfa adapter which does a pretty good job, but I am going to get an AC router and want to get a client that will be able to take advantage of it.
Any info will be appreciated!

You asked about USB 3.0 Wi-Fi Adapters this 2 i have and they are/have pretty good range.

No they are both stable and works in Win10, but i would go for the D-Link DWA-192.

If you don't mind me asking, why do you prefer the D-link?
I found a post on Newegg to use a driver for the EW-7822UAC on the Asus usb adapter to eliminate the bloatware.
Have you tried this?

No but thanks for the tipp, i try that out.
I just think that D-Link DWA-192 is moore fitt with other routers, but thats me.

The Asus USB-AC56 is a nice solution once configs are sorted... and it seems to be Win10 friendly (and it's OSX friendly for some versions of MacOS)

It has a USB3.0 extender cable so that one can place the unit for better reception - and that big pokey looking thing, it's included, but probably not needed...

Thanks for the reply! I already have an Alfa 2/5 adapter with an antenna. I was looking for something that does A/C.
I'm sorry! I looked that up. I didn't notice it was an AC adapter. Does it have good range?

yes - the only down side I see with this is driver support in Linux...

Win10 plug/pray drivers, need some tweaking in Advanced Properties - but it's a good unit...

How's the USB-AC68? Would you recommend it?
I was wonder which is better the Asus USB-AC68 or D-link DWA192.

I found this thread, after I woke to find my Edimax EW-7822UAC (purchased 11/15) had begun to drop & lose connectivity with my AC88U. After reading reviews of the two adapters discussed, I am curious if any forum members own/use either of the adapters & what are their thoughts?
FYI - I am currently using on a Win 10 (64) desktop.

TIA-
EDIT:
My daughter was "going to die" if I didn't do something to get her computer back on the internet, so I ordered the Asus USB-AC68. Amazon delivers on tuesday, so hopefully we survive, until then.

Received our Asus usb-ac68. Installation was smooth and connected quickly.
In comparison to my ew-7822uac, the new adapter connects with significantly stronger signal & faster speeds (from the same location).
Currently we are using the adapter in the provided cradle. I have noticed that the Asus gets to the high range of warm to the touch, when used.
If anything unusual occurs I will post, but after 24hrs I am pleased with this product.

To respond to the OP question regarding the use of this adapter with a laptop, this adapter is large in size, so check the physical specs to insure you have the space to plug into your laptop. I would recommend using the adapter, due to the adapter size.
