Low priority items (beta2)....

Tabs on WAN/Internet Connection are not formatted equally across the top of the page (this was also on 43_2)

Selecting the other tabs results in last line of tab text being cut off.

This is possibly a browser-specific issue as I don't see it under Chrome. What browser are you using?

Sigh.....good old IE10. Remember you picked up a fix from me on the syslog scrolling for IE10? Guess I have a couple more to look at.

Edit....Just looked again....those tabs are the only ones that have multi-line text. At least a place to start looking.

Is anyone using Beta 1 or 2 using the dual WAN function of the 68U? Is it working without errors?

Running Beta 2 now, N66u as router, AC68u in AP mode.

on both routers 2.4ghz is screwed totally now, I ran nvram set wl1_nband=1
nvram commit
after I noticed the problem, it didn't work.

If I am set to 20mhz I can change channel, any other setting and it will show in the menu I have changed to auto/N only, and the channel but hovering over the wireless icon shows channel 1 with no channel width, confirmed by inSSIDer

I'll revert the experimental EM code back to Asus's stock GPL code, and upgrade the December 2013 driver to the Asus 376_1071 version. All those experiments in an attempt to resolve the complains about reduced range on the RT-N66U are simply a huge time sink for me at this time, so I'm giving up on that.

If after that people are still unhappy about the N66U range, they are welcome to buy a different router model that will give them improved range and performance. I've already done everything I could (and some more) in attempts at getting this resolved, there's nothing more I can do.

What other newer Asus routers have better wifi singal range than the rt-n66u?

On my AC66U Beta 2 works great (Beta 1 was terrible, 5GHZ connections were really slow)

The only thing with Beta2 is that the option in the WebUI to adjust beam forming (turn it on/off) is now missing.

As long as its on by default now, i don't really care.

FAT32 (4k clusters IIRC)

I was able to reproduce it earlier, it's a bug in the new Tuxera FAT32 driver on MIPS routers (those are still using an older version). I'll revert MIPS builds to the Kernel FAT32 driver for now, until Asus updates it.

Asus has been spending a lot of time debugging IE11 support recently. In 376_2044 they changed the X-UA-Compatible meta to "IE=Edge", so don't spend too much time on this for now in case that IE11 fix might also be resolving the tab issues.

Asus removed it because it's probably not supported by the RT-AC66U. These are the models for which the webui displays the option:

Code:
                if(     based_modelid == "RT-AC3200" ||
                        based_modelid == "RT-AC69U" || based_modelid == "TM-AC1900" ||
                        based_modelid == "RT-AC56S" || based_modelid == "RT-AC56U" ||
                        based_modelid == "RT-AC68U" || based_modelid == "RT-AC68U_V2" || based_modelid == "DSL-AC68U" ||
                        based_modelid == "RT-AC87U" || based_modelid == "EA-AC87")
                {
                        $('wl_txbf_desc').innerHTML = "802.11ac Beamforming";
                        inputCtrl(document.form.wl_txbf, 1);
                }

Squid proxy server problem

I have a problem with beta1 and beta2.

I run squid proxy server on N66U. No problem with previous merlin firmware version, but with 376.44 afer 3-4 hours squid process end with no one reason :confused:
No log entry in squid log, either in N66U log. Help please! ;)

376.44 beta 1 and 2 will not work with my 4TB Samsung D3 Station hard drive, went back to RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_374.43_2 and is working fine again.

Love the network map and the ability to rename clients and search.

At the moment the "Wired" tab shows my PC's, Access Points, Wireless Tablets, Wireless Phones, Switch Playstation, NAS and CCTV.

However is it possible to separate those clients (tablets, phones etc) which are connected wirelessly in a separate "Wireless" tab?

Additionally Clients: under Security Level: network map show 9 clients but in both "Online" and "Wired" I have 6 clients shown.

Why is there a mis-match? Or does it only show clients currently sending and transmitting packets of data? I cannot see/access a scrollbar to see the additional clients.

I do like the individual icons. My Windows PC is clearly different to my tablet. However my CCTV, NAS, Playstation, Access Point all share the same icon. Whilst this is just cosmetic/aesthetic I would love it if Access Points had a different icon.

Thanks for the update. I'll be testing performance later on. :)

Edit - Nevermind I just saw the arrow under list and was able to see the remaining clients. That was easy to miss, I was looking for a scroll bar.

My 5ghz band is also not working. Will try the fixes mentioned above.

Anyone have tips on how to preserve open VPN settings ? I am on 39_0.em

I cut and paste all the certs (I am sure to label them) into a txt file. The rest of the settings I also keep in a txt/word file just in case.

IMHO it is well worth the short time invested to write down all of your settings (not just vpn).

For whatever reason to get 5.0 GHz working I had to change the settings on the 5.0 GHz channel through the GUI.

I did it from the network map page, under system status.

So click on the 5.0 GHz channel in the GUI and change the SSID/etc and apply. Change it to something else no matter what is says, and then change it back to what you want.

Also, you may have to go into the settings and change the channel as well, I think this issue may be happening because of something to do with country codes? The new driver seems to bork them, especially if customized.

thanks, I was thinking to just dump all of the following into a txt file

Code:
nvram show all| grep vpn

And then use the nvram set command to repopulate them, should work right ?
