Mine died after 3 months (no power), build date 2024 from Vietnam. Luckily found one at my BB again and have RMAD my old one with Asus to now keep as backup. Whats going with Asus QC control?

It happens. This is what the warranty is for. Unpleasant moment for 24/7 availability device - has to be replaced right away and the warranty is not helping much. The user ends up paying for the replacement anyway. 🤷‍♂️

Dude my AC86U lasted 4.5 yrs....3.5 months cmon..anyways my RMA new unit coming back will now be my backup!

You've got lucky with this RT-AC86U. It was a model with above average failure rate.

AX86U Pro rock solid here. Have flashed between Asus and Merlin firmwares several times but am now using Asus firmware. Will I ever switch back to Merlin? Only the Shadow knows...

You happened to get a bad apple. It happens. Get it replaced under warranty and move on. Have a Best Buy RT-AX86U Pro purchased on 04-25-23 that is still (knock on wood) going strong. Manufactured 2022 in Vietnam. Have several Amazon purchased RT-AC68U's that still work without issue. They were purchased way back in 2018.

Yup...guess i got spoiled by my AC86U (lol) I'll now have a spare, so all good!

Interesting stuff..I'd been using an AX-68U for the past year and snagged an AX86U and it's proven to be as reliable as the AX68 and gets FAR better range and throughput..

That's an old one...
What do you expect from an old guy?

Well, you must be eating your Wheaties!

We still don’t know if the actual router died or just the power supply.
