beam forming and output power on RT AC68u

Finally have everything running well now does increasing the output power increase the distance the router will work? Is there a way to direct the beam to a narrow beam to just reach out to the area that needs to be lite up. The distance does not seem to reach as far as I thought it would vs my old router.
Does directing the antennas have any effect

No, In order to increase distance access point and client need to use similar power levels. If not wireless communication won't work.

No, beamforming usually calculated by router itself and user cannot change it's properties. My guess is your client can't transmit with enough power back to access point or router as a result wireless range is not that great.

Also I have same router and from basement I can get signal on fifth floor in house with -65dbm (which I consider good from distance point of view)
