Haven't tested either. Both are 2x2, so get same maximum link rates. The USB 3.0 interface won't limit throughput while the USB 2.0 might.

Note that neither will support the 1300 Mbps link rate in 5 GHz that the router supports.

The edimax has been seen to bottleneck at 500ish megabit IRL. Then again no AC adapter gets full rated theoretical throughput

my setup with edimax on an actual USB3.0 port on my motherboard. this is 2 rooms and one wall away on my gaming PC.

Best $39.00 I have spent in awhile:)

Looks pretty damn impressing!

What's your throughput (megabyte/sec.) on LAN SMB transfers?
Are you seeing any dropped packages?

Which of these 2 USB AC wireless adapters would be best:

Asus USB-AC53

or

Edimax EW-7822UAC
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833315123

The Asus is USB 2.0 The Edimax is USB 3.0

Thanks for any opinions or experiences anyone has with these.

If you're willing to shell out a bit more, look at the recommendations in this thread: http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/forumdisplay.php?f=39 (the Linksys WUMC710 bridge seems to be doing a stellar job!)

I am currently running windows 8 with the edimax USB 3.0 . The only issue I have is every once in awhile when I boot it wont recognize the edimax adapter which I then pull and replace and that fixes it.

Will check Lan transfers speed it's mostly the wife transferring pic and home videos of the kids and she noticed a great improvement immediately:)
