Best AP and Client Bridge routers?

New Around Here
Hey everyone, just registered for the forums after seeing this site mentioned on Amazon.com.

Anyways, I live in a town home with my cable modem and AP router (D-link DIR-655) in the living room and a Client Bridge router (Linksys WRT54G w/DDWRT) 2 stories up hooked up to my desktop computer. This setup works OK, but I'm in the market to upgrade. I'd like to hear thoughts on equipment that would work well in this role with better range and throughput, along with ease of setting up. I'm considering the ASUS RT-N56U for the AP and the RT-N53 for the Client Bridge.

You are limiting throughput by using an 802.11g bridge with an 802.11n router. So switching to any n-based bridge will improve your throughput. If you don't need wireless upstairs, look at a Cisco Linksys WES610N or WET610N. Refurb WET610N at Cisco Home store is $50 w/ free shipping and 30 day return.

But I would try 200 or 500 Mbps powerline to extend your network vs. the wireless bridge. It will be much faster and more stable. Check the powerline finder and charts.
