Best way to connect ASUS GT-AX11000 with ASUS GT-AX11000 Pro

I purchased a new ASUS GT-AX11000 Pro and I want to install the ASUS GT-AX11000 in the garage to extend the coverage. I set it up initially on a Mesh IoT off the Main Network for cameras and other IoT devices, but now I am wondering if I should set it up as an Access Point. There is a Managed Switch between it and the ASUS GT-AX11000 Pro which is wired at 10g to the Switch then 2.5 g to the ASUS GT-AX11000.
Also does the Ethernet wire from the switch go to the WAN Port on the ASUS GT-AX11000 or the 2.5 Port?
Thoughts please.

Thoughts...

ISP <2.5G> GT-AX11000 Pro 3.0.0.6.* <10G> managed switch <2.5G> 2.5G port GT-AX11000 3.0.0.4.*

AiMesh:
Ethernet Backhaul Mode
2.4 WLANs, all nodes
5-1 WLANs, all nodes
5-2 WLANs, all nodes (no use for U-NII-4 band without client support)
GNP VLANs/WLANs on Pro node only

AP:
same WLANs and VLANs on Pro node
not sure what AP Mode allows on GT-AX110000

not sure how Pro and non-Pro firmwares will interact
not sure how AiMesh usage will compare to AP Mode usage

I'm out of thoughts. :)

Do you think ap is a better attempt than mesh

I think you can try it easy enough... remove the node and create the AP and see what you think. You could sell the non-Pro and get another Pro and join us Beta testers! :)

The managed switch in between in AiMesh configuration has to know GN specific VLANs and pass to the node. May need manual configuration.

I just setup my ax11000 pro meshed with ax11000 (non pro). The AiMesh didn’t work until I plugged Ethernet cable from LAN port of the pro into the WAN port of the non-pro. Then the mesh worked / synced.

Disconnected and using the 5.2g wireless as the back haul.

Yes the two boxes are different firmware versions and the ‘check for update’ on either no longer works.

Well I did it, now another set of questions.

i prefer ap mode.. that way i have more control about which ssids i am advertising and what channels they are on etc.
