Hello,
I have two routers running asus-merlin on two separate networks/locations.

I’d like to be able to share the drive attached to the USB on one of the routers over the internet so that it is accessible by the users on both of the networks/routers. NFS would be preferred, but SMB could also work.

I was thinking of using a VPN, but thought it might have a limited throughput…?
Both networks have a dedicated gigabit connection and dynamic IP.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Your gig connection will be faster than USB through put. Use VPN server on USB router, VPN client on other with different lan subnet ip.

You don't say what model routers you have.

VPN is the obvious choice and NFS should work fine across it. Other than that you might be able to setup some sort of cloud solution, but that's not my area of knowledge.
