Asus never labeled betas as such in the build strings.

I just flashed my 68-U with this FW and now i can see my Samsung WIFI speakers as a unit in this FW, could not see them at all in Merlins last xx.55 FW.
But they are connected with WIFI to my AP (Netgear R7000) but shows as WIRED in this FW, everything thats connected to the AP shows as WIRED units in my ASUS 68-U FW?

Router sees it on wired connection. It is the same on all firmwares: clients connected to an AP are seen as wired.
There's no way for Asus to learn that client is wireless.

Correct. That's because the AP itself is wired, so from your router's point of view, everything coming through that connection is wired.

Can anyone check if 10 characters limitation in URL filtering has been removed or increased to a higher number?

I've been running it for about a week as well. For some reason the samba share stopped working last night. I had to restart the router. No errors in the log and the router still showed the drive but windows couldn't see \\asus. No issues other than that so far.

It seems this FW is suffering from the same UPNP issue from some of the last FWs.

From time to time (some times 1h interval, some times 15min) I get this:
Code:
Sep 8 11:00:18 miniupnpd[1246]: upnp_event_process_notify: connect(192.168.2.130:2869): Connection timed out
Sep 8 11:00:18 miniupnpd[1246]: upnp_event_process_notify: connect(192.168.2.130:2869): Connection timed out
Sep 8 11:00:18 miniupnpd[1246]: upnp_event_process_notify: connect(192.168.2.130:2869): Connection timed out
Sep 8 11:19:18 miniupnpd[1246]: upnp_event_process_notify: connect(192.168.2.130:2869): Connection refused
Sep 8 11:19:19 miniupnpd[1246]: upnp_event_recv: recv(): Connection reset by peer

this makes my adapter connection to drop and I've to wait about 10s to be able to reconnect.

Hmmm..... I have never gotten this on any Asus router or any firmware. May be your modem is not talking to your router at times.

I disable UPnP as a security risk. It might make some things easy, but there have been issues with it over time that lead me to distrust it.

The way I see it, if malware has already infiltrated your network and has sufficient privileges to open ports over UPNP, then it's already too late for your network's security. UPNP would allow inbound connections to proceed, but nothing would stop that same malware from connecting back to a central server and do just as much damage, regardless of the state of UPnP.

I'm trying to upgrade my rt-ac68u's firmware from 3.0.0.4.378.6975 to 3.0.0.4.378.8258 but the router keeps complaining that firmware upgrade was unsuccessful because of incorrect FW image or error in transmission.
I downloaded the 3.0.0.4.378.8258 firmware from asus's website http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC68U/HelpDesk_Download/

EDIT:
I was able to upgrade the firmware after disabling AiProtection.

Could anyone explain why the router can never find a new firmware by itself ? I always have to manually download the new firmware and upload it to the router to upgrade (this used to happen even when I didn't use AiProtection).
