Block devices from getting DHCP based on MAC?

New Around Here
Hi everyone.

Is there any easy way to block certain devices with certain mac addresses from getting an IP from the DHCP server on the RT-N66? For my IPTV, I need my STB IP's to be leased from the crappy gateway they give us.

I'm running into issues running 2 DHCP servers and having the Asus pick up the STB's...

thanks!

You cannot have two DHCP servers on the same network segment.

The simplest is to not connect the STB by COAX or Ethernet to the ASUS router.

For instance if you are using FIOS, double NAT your network and let the STB remain connected by COAX to the FIOS router and everything else connect to your ASUS by using either Ethernet or WiFi. These devices will be on different network segments.

From the dnsmasq man page:

-G, --dhcp-host=[<hwaddr>][,id:<client_id>|*][,set:<tag>][,<ipaddr>][,<hostname>][,<lease_time>][,ignore]
...
The special keyword "ignore" tells dnsmasq to never offer a DHCP lease to a machine. The machine can be specified by hardware address, client ID or hostname, for instance --dhcp-host=00:20:e0:3b:13:af,ignore This is useful when there is another DHCP server on the network which should be used by some machines.

You will have to enable jffs and add the correct line to your dnsmasq.conf.add
