Blocking Bitorrents at router level

Richsm

New Around Here
Hi all
Hopefully somebody can help me with this.

I need to block bitorrents on the router, I have somebody who is abusing this & I have no access to their PC (long story about an undisciplined stepson who likes to get one over on people).

The router I have is an ASUS RT-N66U with a stock firmware 3.0.0.4.376_1071.
I understand I may need to change to a non stock firmware but I am acomplete novice at this.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,

Do you still need help? I am not advanced user as well, but I will try to sort it out your problem.

Torrents are hard to control. If the abuser is savvy, he'll work around any port blocks.

I'd suggest bandwidth limiting based on MAC address. He could still spoof that, but maybe not.

You may not have access to his PC, but if you control the router, you control network access.

It can be done if you

1. install custom firmware
2. block all port destinations except for 80 (http) and 443 (https) (and whatever else you need). This can be done with iptable rules. You will probably need to ask around on how to do this on the forums of the firmeare you've installed.
3. disable upnp
