BQ16 Duan Wan

New Around Here
Hi All

I currently have an Asus BQ16 here in the UK and have 2 Internet providers. If I set up Dual Wan can I create a SSID that only uses 1 ISP in particular?

I want 90% of my devices to use 1 isp and only a select few devices to use the other isp. Would this be possible?

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you

This may not apply to your firmware version, but on the older routers you could setup routing rules in the Dual WAN settings. Dual WAN had to be set to Load Balancing mode though.

Doesn't that imply separate APs for separate SSIDs ?
I should have made that clearer. There would need to be some way of associating clients connecting to a specific AP with specific IP addresses. I don't know if that's possible in his firmware (using VLANs?).

However, he did say "I want 90% of my devices to use 1 isp and only a select few devices to use the other isp". So perhaps he doesn't actually need multiple APs, just reserved IP addresses for the "few devices".

Thanks for the replies. I have Community Fibre 3gbps connection and also Virgin Media broadband. The set top boxes I have need to be connected and routed through Virgins Modem. So I would need to set up a SSID called say Virgin and have their set top boxes connect to that and use the secondary Wan. All other devices can use my Community Fibre main Wan 2.4 and 5/6ghz.

I hope this makes sense...

In that case I don't see the need to have a separate SSID just for the VM boxes. You could give them fixed IP addresses (LAN - DHCP Server > Manually Assigned IP...) and use the routing rules I referred to. That's assuming your firmware still works this way.

P.S. I assume you're using one of VM's Hub's. Can you not just connect the STBs to the Hub's Wi-Fi instead of the BQ16?

Thank you, I can see the routing options if I enable Dual Wan. Will give this a go in the coming days.

The Wifi on the Hub is pretty poor and my Asus BQ16 mesh is much better. I will switch the Hub into modem mode and have it all run through my Asus.
