Buffalo LinkStation Pro Quad

New Around Here
Hi everyone, new here and some what new to NASes.

my question is has anyone used the Buffalo LinkStation Pro Quad, I will be using it to store my wife's pics from her MacBook and my MacPro and merge our iTunes music, and do system backups, and my own cloud on occasion. speed is not a super big factor but want it to be still simi-fast. I really like the idea of RAID 5 as an option for speed and security. And how reliable is the Buffalo LinkStation Pro Quad?

any thoughts??

Thanks Matt

RAID 5 will not provide more speed or more "security". RAID is not a substitute for backup.

If the NAS is the primary store for a file, those files should be backed up to another device. If the NAS is the backup for files stored somewhere else, then whether you back it up depends on how much time you want to spend backing up the files stored there again.
