Hello,

I have an asymmetric gigabit connection of 940 mbps/ 35 mbsp, and my dslreports bufferbloat test gave me a score of D. What router can I get that can handle my gigabit download speeds and fq_codel to fix the bufferbloat? I'm open to building my own pfsense machine and also exploring out of the box options.
Thanks!

I dont think fq_codel works for fiber it only works for Adsl &Vdsl bufferbloat is Typically a Disease of your ISP

Could try an rt ax88u I guess with fresh jr qos script.

I dont no if fresh jr qos works with a fiber connection because you dont need adaptive qos with fiber other than it needs a smart Queue Management system built in to the firmware to deal with bufferbloat

by technicality it could adaptive qos is only missing driver level support for FQ_Codel which is a form of SQM, the original poster would most like have to get an edge router x, or run ddwrt if he needs native support.
and on an off chance i do hope asus would implent FQ_Codel as a native feature on the HND platform routers since their kernel version is above or greater than the required version for FQ_Codel to work with its full feature set.

broadcom has to give it to asus and trend micro would possibly have to add some support.

most anecdotes i read about gig coax is it's just a marketing illusion.
typically you need 15% upload to on average support 100% download
which means only 233mbps of your download is reliable, so i would
start out doing a wan qos at 300 down. make sure you not only watch
the buffer bloat but also the packet retry% which should be under 1%.

What modem do you have? Alot of the Intel puma modems have buffer bloat issues regardless of what modem you have.
