Are there any options out there for a guy who wants to build 4G LTE into a desktop computer? Maybe like a PCI card with a SIM reader built in?

4G LTE.. can you simply get a USB modem from Verizon and plug it in? Perhaps via a USB extension cable so the modem gets elevated a bit?

Or use a Cradlepoint router which has WiFi, Ethernet, USB port for cellular/4G modem, WAN port if you have cable/DSL at some times.
Cradlepoint MBR95 would do. Try eBay for lightly used.

As Steve suggested, a USB dongle might be an approach - alternately, I've seen some PCI to CardBus adapters that can accept a CardBus AirCard.

If your heart is set on this, check the industrial PC builder websites - they do have solutions there to integrate LTE onto expansion cards.

For Ethernet devices that need cellular communications I like to use Sierra or Digi cellular modems. Many of them are full routers that have all the bells and whistles but aren't cheap.
