I sometimes login to my router and use the WOL there to wake laptop servers while away from home, but it does not seem to wake one of them that has a changed WOL port.

Does the rmerlin firmware WOL to a specific port and if so could that port be changed to wake a specific server?

Thankfully someone PMd me that there is no port to the WOL command, thanks dude.

Looks like this is my fault- maybe this calls for another thread but when I am connected local I have a script that wakes my server, then tries to ping it on a loop before connecting by rdp once it can ping.

When I'm local, I can use the server's local name, let's call it myserver. But from wan, that obviously does not work. I am trying this while connected to the pptp vpn of the router. Let's say my dyndns for the router is myhome.asuscomm.com. Could I ping "myserver" at "myhome.asuscomm.com" from wan? If not ping, is there another way to confirm the server is awake from wan?

***No bump EDIT***
Pretty sure I figured this out... added a domain name (domain name = myhome.asuscomm.com) under Lan>>DHCP server and now I can contact myserver.myhome.asuscomm.com

Also on LAN>>DHCP server page, I set DNS server as my router ip address, and set forward local domain queries to upstream dns to no.
