Can't access Asus FTP from WAN

Principis

Occasional Visitor
Hi,

I'm using the Merlin firmware 378.54_2 for my Asus rt-AC87u.

I have setup the ftp server with a HDD connected trough USB. But I can't access it from wan I can access it with ftp://192.168.1.1 but when I am somewhere else and I try to access it with my dns, it doesn't work.

It has worked before.

you might need to open a port on the firewall for it to work, even so you should not expose a service like FTP or SSH or HTTPS directly to internet. Use VPN or change the ports.

Have you enabled USB Application > FTP Share > Enable WAN access ?

You said it used to work before. What has changed since then and now?

What error messages do you get?

Try using your WAN IP address rather than DDNS.

Use an ftp client like FileZilla. Change the Debug messages to "Verbose" and see where it's failing.

How exactly are you trying to access it? Also I wouldn't access FTP over the wan unless you are going to use a guest account with no write access and even then it really isn't smart.
