I have RT-AC88u router.
Firmware is up to date xxxxx_48263
See attached screenshots
The settings options do no offer the AX band (again, see attached screenshots)

What do I have to do, or change, to have the option to enable the AX band?

The Asus AC88U is not a AX capable router. You need a AX router to get AX.

Analog... Thanks for quick reply
I do want to disagree with you.
See screenshot attached of Amazon page where I purchased it (says wifi)
See also two screenshots of the box it came in (says wifi and says AX)
It's unambiguous from my point of view... This IS ax compatible!

Those pictures are of the RT-AX88U but your first post clearly indicates an RT-AC88U router.

If you received the AC88U in an AX88U box from a third-party seller, you were robbed.

Also, you may be doxxing yourself in your screenshots, if you live in MA…

Colin,
I am perhaps as confused as you... Hence all the screenshots I sent to add context.
I purchased Ax6000.
I received router in box that says AX6000.
The firmware is up to date.
However, when I log in to router it says RT-AC88u and the option for AX band is absent (see screenshot from my first post).
Where do I go from here?

Whhhaaaaat! Please tell me you're kidding?
Compare the pictures of the two routers. The AX model is much larger and has gold antenna accents. The AC model has red antenna accents.

Was the router meant to be new? Did it fit snugly into the polystyrene packaging?

Check the model number on the label stuck to the router's case.

Wait... I just looked back at the Amazon page... The seller was Asus
That screenshot shows a used router being sold by a marketplace seller. Check your Amazon invoice for who the seller was for the item you purchased.

Check the back or bottom of the router to see what it specifically indicates for the model. Like others indicated you may have gotten scammed if the wrong router was in the box.

PS: Example of what you should see on the bottom of an RT-AX88U/AX6000 indicating the router model and other pertinent information.

Sucks but it happens. Obviously contact Amazon (or the reseller on Amazon) and request a refund/replacement if you purchased from Amazon.

Someone scammed the seller first - purchased an RT-AX88U, swapped it with an old RT-AC88U and returned it. By the way RT-AX88U is an old model router from 2018. if you have the option - get your money back and purchase the newer RT-AX88U Pro instead, 2023 model. It has updated hardware and runs newer Asuswrt 5.0 Pro firmware.
