New member here and I hope you can help me?
I am running a Win7 Ultimate desktop on a wired network, AT&T as provider, which runs through a switch before connecting to the homes ethernet system.
In the past few weeks I began to develop a problem that ultimately became quite frustrating. I can access the internet, download e-mail through Outlook, but I can't authenticate to servers for services such as Zune or Evernote.

I have uninstalled network adapters and rebooted. Tried release and renew adapters, flushed the DNS, rebooted the router and modem. All with no luck. I am fairly computer literate, but fairly ignorant to networking. I have searched the net, tried everything I could locate, but still no luck. A desktop going through the same switch works, all wireless notebooks work, just this desktop.
Any ideas?

I am unsure if this has anything to do with it? IE can't connect to the internet while everything else can. I have uninstalled IE9, reloaded 8, still no luck. This is quite the frustrating problem.

IE cannot HTTP to any Internet hosts? Tried lots?
How about when you use a different computer, same LAN?

command window: nslookup yahoo.com
to ensure your DNS servers are working.

try using Firefox to see if IE is hosed up.

Check the time/date on your computer? Kerberos authentication requires synced times to work.

Solved

After days of frustration I stumbled upon the answer after posting. When I accidentally realized IE couldn't access the net when everything else I looked there. Messed with all the secure zones, trusted zones, etc. no luck. The box for IE to automatically determine LAN settings was unchecked. How frustrating yet simple, guess IE hook into more than I thought.

thanks a lot, and yes I have had the wrong time issue before too.
