Can't see guest network SSID

New Around Here
Hey everybody,

I'm using Asus RT-AC68U in router mode with the latest Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.39 build.

I'm trying to set up an OpenVpn connection for certain WiFi SSIDs as described here:
https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/How-to-setup-SSID-for-VPN-and-SSID-for-Regular-ISP-using-OpenVPN.

The problem is:
The guest networks don't work. I don't see the SSIDs. Trying to connect to the guest networks manualy (hidden SSIDs) doesn't work.
In the web UI everything seems just right.

Trying to unhide the Guest Networks using:

Code:
nvram set wl0.1_closed=0
nvram commit

nvram set wl1.1_closed=0
nvram commit

Doesn't work either. Found in this Post.

The administration protocol for WiFi doesn't show the guest networks.
Deactivating/ activating guest networks doesn't work.
Rebooting the router doesn't work.

OpenVpn is running perfectly.

So my problem is the "simple" step of setting up guest networks...

I'm lost

Any help would be really appreciated!

Cheers,
BuzzDee

I have no experience with that kind of setup with opnevPN and Guest-SSID...

..but I did set-up my AC68U as a router a couple of days ago and also enabled a guest network....worked like charm.

Reading the wiki you linked, it appears to me that nowhere does it state that you have to
switch on Guest-SSID first, before attempting the openVPN stuff. Maybe you are doing this
in the wrong order of steps?

I'd start with a vanilla, basic router setup, then add Guest-SSID without openVPN and try to connect clients to that. Only after that, I'd start with the openVPN client set-up.

Thanks for your answer Ford Perfect!

That's good news. So guest networks are working with the latest Merlin release.

I think I'll reset the router and start from scratch.
Hopefully guest networking will work...

Cheers,
BuzzDee

Just a quick update: Reseting the router solved the issue.

Guest networks are up and running.

Thanks a lot for your help!
